Kelly M. Rosati, J.D., is an attorney, nationally recognized child advocate and the founding Executive Director of the Flying Horse Foundation. Previously, she spent 10 years at Focus on the Family, most recently as its Vice President of Advocacy for Children. A frequent public speaker, Ms. Rosati has testified before Congress about foster care and adoption and is the author of the book Wait No More.
Her work has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, National Public Radio, Denver Post, New York Daily News, Christianity Today, Honolulu Star Bulletin and numerous TV and radio stations nationwide. She also served for 10 years as the Executive Director of Hawaii Family Forum where she advocated for children and families in the legislature and media. In that role, she was named by the Honolulu Star Bulletin as one of “Ten Who Made a Difference” for the state in 2000 for her role in changing Hawaii’s law to better protect minors from adult exploitation. During that time, she was also appointed by Hawaii’s Governor to serve on the Hawaii Children’s Trust Fund where she became its chair-elect before moving with her family to Colorado.
Ms. Rosati received her undergraduate degree from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. She received her law degree, cum laude, from the University of Nebraska College of Law. Ms. Rosati and her husband live with their four children on a ranch east of Colorado Springs where they have been greatly impacted by horses and their therapeutic impact.

Trisha Tarleton is our Director of Operations. She is a resourceful leader who brings a decade of experience in diverse industries, including sales and distribution. She brings to the foundation results-driven administration and systems development, along with excellence in organizational management. She is a respected leader with a penchant for relating effectively with colleagues and clients alike. She lives in Monument with her husband and two daughters.
Director of Equine Assisted Learning | Email Sara
Sara has her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy through Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA and bachelor’s in Christian Ministry from Mississippi College. She has more than 6 year experience working with trauma, attachment disorders, abuse, neglect, adoption and foster care, and family systems. She earned a post graduate certificate in Equine Assisted Mental Health through the University of Denver's Institute for the Human Animal Connection, which is currently the only program specifically designed to meet all criteria for animal assisted competency requirements with the ACA (AATC), 2016). She utilizes a person centered approach and pulls from a variety of models to tailor her services to her clients’ needs. She puts the utmost focus on the physical, emotional, and spiritual safety and acceptance of program participants. Sara cares deeply about helping children and youth heal and gain insight to themselves in order to grow their relationships.
Sara resides in Monument, CO with her young energetic son.
Equine Program Manager | Email Katie
Katie is a Licensed Social Worker and holds a certificate in animal-assisted social work from the Institute of Human-Animal Connection at the University of Denver, Graduate School of Social Work. Katie has been working in the field of equine-assisted activities and interventions since 2011. She has worked with populations diagnosed with trauma, ASD, anxiety, addiction, depression, and IDD, as well as with children and families involved in the foster care system. Katie has worked with the University of Denver to research the impact of animal-assisted interventions on children in residential settings who have experienced trauma and is the program assistant for the Equine-Assisted Mental Health Practitioner Certificate, a post-masters program for mental health professional seeking to incorporate equines into their practice. Katie grew up with horses and looks forward to providing equine-assisted experiences in a setting that allows children and adolescents to be in nature.
Administration and Transportation Manager | Email Lisa
Lisa Ringdahl is our Administration and Transportation Manager. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the esteemed University of Chicago and has a knack for critical thinking and data management. Lisa has worked with children for years, previously working at a local daycare transporting school-age students and as a Finance Administrator. Lisa possesses the ability to work well with both numbers and people; she enjoys a wide range of activities and pursuits.
